A birthday and bilingual Galway Pride

Róisín Dubh to host a variety show fundraiser for Pride

GALWAY COMMUNITY Pride has begun its season-long events and fundraisers in aid of the annual Pride week, which runs from Monday August 12 to Sunday 18, with the Pride march taking place on Saturday 17.

This year's Pride is a milestone in the event's history. It marks the 30th year of Galway Pride - the longest running consecutive pride in Ireland - and Pride 2019 will be the first bilingual Pride with Gaeilge heavily incorporated into all events and promotional material.

.

This years committee is made up of 15 LGBT+ community members of various backgrounds who are dedicated to making an event for the city which celebrates diversity and inclusivity. "Galway Pride is a humble community run event that emphasises and celebrates our local family above all else," the committee said. "It's a reminder of our city's history and the progress the LGBT+ community has made, and a rallying cry for where we've yet to go."

The Committee is encouraging community members, local organisations, and local businesses to become involved and "help us make this years Pride the best it can be".

A fundraising event for Pride takes place this evening at the Róisín Dubh with a variety show. Tickets on the door are €15 waged and €10 for students, with all proceeds going to Galway Community Pride.
