Fundraising film screening and quiz for Teach Solas

OUTITUDE, THE award winning documentary film charting the history of lesbian Ireland, is to be screened at the Pálás Cinema, as part of a fundraising drive to ensure the Teach Solais LGBT+ Resoirce Centre, on Merchant's Road, stays open.

Outitude will be screened tomorrow at 9.30pm. It charts the lesbian experience in Ireland from the 1970s to the 2015 marriage equality referendum. It was directed by Sonya Mulligan and produced by Ger Moane. Both will attend the screening and take part in a Q&A afterwards.

The screening is sponsored by Club GASS in collaboration with the Pálás. Tickets are €10, with all proceeds going to Teach Solais. Tickets also allow discounted entry to Club GASS in the Róisín Dubh that night. Doors are 11.30pm. The host will be Kiki St Clair, with music by DJ Ruth.

A second fundraising event for Teach Solais is a table quiz in the Róisín Dubh on Monday June 24 from 8pm, hosted by comedian Steve Bennett and singer-songwriter Steven Sharpe. Tickets for a table of four are €40 (€10 for each participant ) with all proceeds going to Teach Solais.

AMACH! LGBT Galway is a registered charity responsible for running the Teach Solais esource centre. It's services include an LGBT helpline; peer support groups, such as GOSSIP transgender support group; free HIV testing by AIDS West; drop-in sessions every Saturday (2pm to 4pm ); photography/arts and crafts courses; intergenerational art sessions; meditation sessions; yoga classes; board game sessions; book club; and sporting activities.
