KNOCKNACARRA: SALE Agreed is the somewhat provocative title of a new exhibition by Galway artist Hilary Morley, which opens this evening in the Arts Corridor of UHG.
Until the late 1980s, Knocknacarra was mostly a small number of housing estates surrounded by wide open fields, even streams, and some farmland. Over the last 30 years it has become one of the largest and most populous suburbs in Galway. This transformation, where the only constant has been the auctioneers’ signage, has inspired Morley's new series of paintings, drawings, and collages.

"Hilary Morley's work is uniquely accessible and the theme will resonate with many patients, staff and visitors," said Margaret Flannery, UCHG arts director. "Her work brings the outside world into the hospital environment, giving those who travel the corridor an opportunity to be transported to a new place possibly bringing back an old fond memory of a time or a place."
Fergal McGrath, manager of the Town Hall Theatre will officially open the exhibition at 6pm this evening. It runs until June 30.
