Fine Gael local election candidate in Galway City Central, Eddie Hoare, has pledged to work to help create an environment that will see businesses flourish and workers get their due reward.
Speaking yesterday, he said that he hopes to be part of a forward-thinking chamber of the City Council that would promote a positive-working environment to ensure maximum benefits for the people of Galway,” he said.
He pointed out that integrity and accountability were key to this.
“Honesty and transparency must be to the fore in public office and it is the duty of elected representatives to ensure value for money for the tax and rates payers.”
Mr Hoare, who is seeking a seat in the Galway City Central ward which stretches from Bushypark to Menlo and takes in Claddagh for the first time, pointed out that businesses played a vital role in a successful local economy.
“It is critical that local authorities appreciate the contributions of businesses and ensure they are sufficiently supported.
“After all, the remittance of commercial rates is a major part of the funding of Galway City Council, while the provision of goods and services and the creation of jobs by businesses, small and large, keeps our city functioning productively,” added Mr Hoare.
