CIE asked to consider new bus route to Parkmore

CIE has been asked to consider introducing a new bus route from Eyre Square to Parkmore, to facilitate Parkmore employees living in estates along and off the Dublin Road, such as Rosshill and Roscam.

The request has come from Fianna Fáil Galway City East candidate Alan Cheevers. He is asking Galway City Council, and the National Transport Authority, as well as CIE to look at this bus route as traffic gridlock in the area is “getting worse”.

“We need to give residents public transport options and I believe if this service is provided more residents will leave cars at home,” he said. “The 409 bus was a great success in this area and equally I believe this route would be as well.”

He also called for a new bus lane along the motorway from the Martin Roundabout to Briarhill shopping centre that goes into Parkmore.
