PUPPETRY, LIVE music, an ensemble of narrators, and a teddy bear called Marty - all are part of Marty Moncrieff and the Teddy Bear Thief, the new family show from Beluga Theatre Company.
The show will be staged in the O'Donoghue Theatre, NUI Galway, from Saturday May 4 (3pm ), Sunday 5 (12 noon and 3pm ), and Monday 6 (12 noon and 3pm ), and is suitable for audiences aged four and over.
Marty is a teddy bear who is an infamous thief, snatching everything from fast cars to cookie jars. However there is a new sheriff in town, and he is hot on the fluffy heels of the Teddy Bear Thief. The play is written by Beluga founder Oisín Robbins.
"This is the only full production in the Galway Theatre festival written for young audiences," said Robbins. "It is vital to give children access to engaging theatre and we are trying to make these connections and experiences with this show. The target audience are children between five and eight. It explores mischief, friendship, and adventure in a way we reckon is a bit what we’d imagine would happen if Toy Story met the cast of Father Ted!"
The show is part of the 2019 Galway Theatre Festival. Tickets are available from 091 - 569777 and www.tht.ie
