We are almost halfway through May and summer is here, apparently. Even though the weather may not suggest it, summer is always a good time to get stuff done around the house.
Here at the advertiser.ie we provide some ideas on what work to do around the home during the summer.
1. A lick of paint
The most obvious way to give your home a new lease of life is cracking open the paint tin, get a brush and roller, and start painting. A new coat can turn a shabby, lifeless, room into a comfortable living space. Remember to use warm and inviting colours.
2. Fix the windows
Summer is a great time to repair and replace the windows. Upgrading your windows make save you money in the long run in terms of heating bills as newer windows keep the heat. And because of the drier weather, changing during the summer is a lot more practical than during autumn or winter.
3. A patio
Summer is all about getting out into the garden and availing of some much needed heat and vitamin D. If your home does not have a patio or ground level deck, then you are missing out on a wonderful entertainment space. Patios or decks can be fairly easy to build if they are ground level but if you are looking for something more extravagant like a raised deck, it is best to get in a professional to do the job. The expense will be well worth it when you are hosting barbecues and relaxing on long, lazy, summer days.
4. Exterior facelift
Our homes take an absolute battering from the weather throughout the year so could be in need of some TLC when summer does eventually come around. Stand back from your home and look at what it needs; painting, power-hosing, gutter cleaning, roof repair, there are plenty of jobs that probably will be needed to be completed and summer is the perfect time to do them.
So there you have it. Some tips for renovating the home during the summer. Get to work.
