Wild Youth, Daithí and Saint Sister for GIAF Big Top

Support acts announced for Bell X1, The Academic, and Orbital

SAINT SISTER, Daithí, and Wild Youth have been announced as support acts for shows at the Galway International Arts Festival Big Top in the Fisheries Field this July.

Saint Sister will open for Bell X1 on Friday July 19. Wild Youth open for The Academic on Saturday July 20; and Daithí, together with his live band, will open for Orbital on July 27.

Saint Sister's mix of folk, trad, indie, electronica, and ambient has won them much praise, and led to performances at Glastonbury, Electric Picnic, and Latitude, as well as support slots with The National, Lisa Hannigan, and Hozier. Nominated for three Choice Music Prizes, the Dublin/Belfast duo released their debut album Shape of Silence, in 2018. The Irish Times called it "a subtle but observant insight into broken Ireland".

Rising indie-pop act Wild Youth have won many fans for their hit singles ‘Can’t Move On’ and ‘Making Me Dance’, while their debut EP The Last Goodbye reached No 5 on the Irish Album Chart. They have enjoyed a sold-out Irish tour, and performed at London's Royal Albert Hall.

Two-time Choice Award nominee Daithí, will be joined by Bell X1’s Paul Noonan, vocalist Sinead White, and electro singer-songwriter Elaine Mai for his support show ahead of Orbital. His 2018 single, ‘Take the Wheel’, featuring Paul Noonan on vocals, was praised as "both elegiac and epic" by The Irish Times and "perhaps his finest song to date" by the Galway Advertiser.

Tickets are available via www.giaf.ie The festival runs from July 15 to 28.
