Due to high interest in auditions for the new cast of Ros na Rún, TG4’s Irish language drama, more auditions will be held at the end of April
Candidates who demonstrate the most flair and natural acting ability will be shortlisted and have the opportunity to join the cast of Ros na Rún for series 24, which begins filming in August of this year.
Each season introduces a few new characters and this year producers are specifically looking for a woman in her forties, a woman in her fifties-sixties and a young man in his mid-twenties. That said, actors from all age groups are welcomed. Of course, candidates are expected to have Irish.
Marion Ní Loingsigh, series producer, says that she was delighted with the standard she has seen already. The April auditions are being held to meet the demand of candidates who may have been disappointed when they did not get the opportunity to attend the last auditions held in March.
Many cast members have naturally adapted to their characters and been so popular with viewers, their roles have been expanded. Auditions are used to search for new talent and can result in new characters being created after coming across budding actors with potential and a natural flair.
The series is set in a fictional village called Ros Na Rún, based in An Spidéal, Co Galway, and is the single largest independent production commissioned in the history of Irish broadcasting.
