Galway 2020 has opened round two of its call to communities to develop a project for the cultural programme of Galway 2020, with funding of €200,000 available to the successful community groups.
This is the second round of the Small Towns Big Ideas programme which celebrates ‘Meitheal’ – the ancient Irish tradition of coming together for a common purpose, working together to ensure that all succeed in achieving a shared goal. Interested groups are asked to create projects that demonstrate collaboration, ambition, creativity, community involvement, and which have a European dimension and respond to the core themes of Galway 2020: Landscape, Language, and Migration.
Galway 2020 will hold a number of information sessions across the county to answer any questions potential applicants may have. These will take place at the Clifden Station House Theatre (Tuesday April 9 at 7pm ), Galway 2020 Offices, 16 Merchant’s Road (Wednesday April 10 at 7pm ), Builín Blasta Café, An Spidéal (Thursday April 11 at 7pm. This meeting will be as Gaeilge ), and at Ballinasloe Library (Tuesday April 16 at 7pm ).
