IRISH NOVELISTS EM Reapy and Billy O’Callaghan will be in conversation in Galway next week, speaking about their work and discussing the theme of ‘obsessions’.
The talk takes place in the Black Gate Cultural Centre, St Francis Street, on Wednesday March 27 at 8pm. It will also look at what goes on behind the scenes in the writing world; how they think about their work; what informs their writing; and those aspects of writing which an audience do not normally hear about.
Elizabeth (EM ) Reapy's debut novel Red Dirt, about group of young Irish migrants in Australia, won Newcomer Of The Year at the 2016 Irish Book Awards and the 2017 Rooney Prize for Irish Literature. Her next novel, Skin, will be published by Head of Zeus.
Billy O'Callaghan's latest novel, My Coney Island Baby, looks at a day in the life of two middle-aged lovers escaping their unhappy marriages. He won a Bord Gais Energy Irish Book Award for Short Story of the Year in 2013.
Admission is free. The talk is organised by Scrutable which organises live literary conversations in Galway.
