Spencer Jones to celebrate Comedy KARLNIVAL's first birthday

Funny, silly, prop based goofery from 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown and Upstart Crow regular

THE COMEDY KARLnival at the Róisín Dubh celebrates its first birthday next week, and plans to do so in style with a headline set from the exuberantly silly, and utterly surreal, prop comic Spencer Jones.

Spencer Jones is a guaranteed riot of deliriously funny physical, musical, prop-heavy goofery. The Scotsman described him and his comedy as, "punch you in the gut funny…Possibly the nicest, funniest, silliest, most heart-warming hour you can have."

Sometimes performing under the alter-ego The Herbert, Jones was nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award in 2017, the same year BBC One piloted his sitcom Mister Winner. He was also a runner-up in the Hackney Empire new act competition in 2015. He has also had a recurring role in Ben Elton's Shakespearean sitcom, Upstart Crow.

Support is from Richy Sheehy, whose blend of outrageous songs and stand-up comedy led to his being called a "musical genius” on BBC Radio 1, while The Stand said of him: "Goes for all the offense, South Park style...Self aware, well pitched, energetic”. He is also known as Cork’s Biggest Liverpool Fan and he has performed live on Soccer AM, BBC Radio 1 and The Ray D’arcy show, as well as playing to thousands at Anfield.

The show is on Tuesday March 26 at 8pm. Support is from Sarah O'Gorman, auditor of NUIG Comedy Society. The MC is Karl Spain. Tickets are €6 in advance from Róisín Dubh; www.roisindubh.net; OMG@Zhivago, Shop Street or €8 at the door.
