Galway will take on Limerick in the Camogie League division one semi-final after finishing top of group 2 on Sunday.
Although they drew 2-7 to 0-13 with Cork in their final group match, their superior score difference was sufficient to see them finish on top.
Cathal Murray's side stunned the All-Ireland champions within the opening five minutes. Carrie Dolan produced a goal after just 15 seconds, and four minutes later Noreen Coen grabbed a second.
However, the current champions struck for four points, two from youngsters Ciara McCarthy and Clíona Healy, and another two from experienced Ashling Thompson and Orla Cotter to get back into the game, before points from Coen and Noreen Hanniffy gave Galway a 2-5 to 0-6 interval advantage.
As expected Cork upped their game in the second half, and points from Cotter, Thompson and Chloe Sigerson drew them level, but it was not enough to leapfrog Cathal Murray's side on the table.
As a result Cork will face Kilkenny in the semi-final, while Offaly meet Wexford to determine who makes the drop to the second tier.
