WHEN THE Rubberbandits call you a "gas bastard", and Charlie Brooker declares you "made me laugh out loud”, then you know, as a comedian, you have reached an extremely high standard.
Kevin McGahern is the man who has received these accolades, and the former host of Republic Of Telly, who has also been called “one of Ireland’s quirkiest stand-ups" by Hot Press, is coming to Galway as part of his Solo Pollo tour.
In this show McGahern will deliver a mix of traditional stand up, character based comedy, and humourous songs, as he talks about his first year of marriage; dying with flatmates; avoiding getting shot in America; how to get away with drunk driving; and how to survive a terrorist attack.
Originally from Cavan, McGahern first began stand-up in 2009 before landing the role of ‘Simcard’ in The Hardy Bucks. Afterwards he took over as Republic of Telly host. He performs in Ireland's leading comedy clubs and has appeared at Electric Picnic, Forbidden Fruit, and the Edinburgh Fringe.
Kevin McGahern plays the Town Hall Theatre studio on Thursday March 7 at 8.30pm. For tickets contact 091 - 569777 or see www.tht.ie
