Bus Éireann has been called on by Independent county councillor Jim Cuddy, to consider providing a new route between Claregalway, Carnmore, and Galway city.
According to the councillor, who represents the Athenry-Oranmore Municipal Area District, there is a demand among Claregalway residents for an off-peak bus service connecting both there, and Carnmore, with the city.
“This is a densely populated area that currently has no scheduled bus service and it has the potential to greatly reduce the number of vehicles on both the N83 and the airport road,” said Cllr Cuddy. “There is no logical reason why a public transport service should not be provided for the people in this area. The service could operate from Galway, turn right at the church in Claregalway and return to Galway via the airport road.”
Cllr Cuddy said he was still waiting for a reply from Bus Éireann to his request.
