Clodagh Higgins has been confirmed as Fine Gael's second candidate for Galway City West in May's Local Elections, finally bringing to an end the long held speculation the party would field a running mate for Cllr Pearce Flannery.
A resident of Salthill for 10 years, she works as a psychologist, and is married with one son. She was a former officer of Junior Chamber International, Galway branch, and she has worked with a number of charities.
Ms Higgins will be campaigning on the provision of enhanced community facilities, sustainable planning, targeted spending on rejuvenating Salthill, enhancing further tourism opportunities arising from Galway2020, and devising safety projects.
"I am honoured to be running as a Fine Gael candidate in the Galway City West Ward and I am fully committed to delivering honest and effective representation for the Salthill, Knocknacarra area," she said. "I am passionate about making Galway the best city to live, work, and raise a family in."
