Spiddal’s CreVinn honoured for outstanding innovation

Spiddal-based technology company CreVinn Teoranta is one of four companies recognised for ‘outstanding innovation’ by InterTradeIreland as part of its all-island innovation programme, FUSION.

InterTradeIreland’s FUSION programme is a cross-border initiative that promotes business development and innovation through collaboration. Companies north and south are partnered with third level institutions and graduates in science, engineering or technology for up to 18 months.

The graduate works as a project manager within the business to deliver new products or improve processes. InterTradeIreland has been helping small businesses in Ireland and Northern Ireland explore new cross-border markets, develop new products, processes and services and become investor ready over the last 20 years.

Based in Spiddal, CreVinn Teoranta provide silicon design services to local and international firms including Intel and Oracle. The company used the FUSION programme to develop their knowledge and capability of hardware acceleration for High Performance Computing.

With support from InterTradeIreland, CreVinn partnered with leading academics at Queen’s University Belfast and a skilled graduate, Cormac Molloy, to explore technical challenges, applications and business opportunities.

The result of the collaboration was instrumental in securing a significant project with a customer and securing further leads. The graduate Cormac Molloy has since joined the company full-time in recognition of his expertise.

Talking about the programme, CreVinn Teoranta CTO Vincent Gavin said the FUSION project was the catalyst that enabled us to embark on this ground-breaking research and open us up to new revenue streams and potential customers.

“The University engagement provided invaluable access to experts in the field of high-performance computing and with the external funding, we were able to allocate a team member to the research full time.”
