After a solid start for manager Cathal Murray in his first season, Galway senior camogie are now due to meet Wexford in Sunday's Littlewoods Ireland Camogie League division one fixture in Gort (2pm ).
While Galway enjoyed a comfortable win over Tipperary last weekend at The Ragg, Wexford were embroiled in controversy when, unable to field a team for their clash with Cork, they conceded the points.
It is understood Wexford were short of players due to several intercounty players' involvement with St Martins, who were winners over Inishcarra in the All Ireland semi-final on the same day.
With manager Martin Carey having already stepped down, the 2016 All-Ireland semi-finalists had opened their campaign with a 1-13 to 1-5 loss to Waterford two weeks ago.
It was a different scene for Galway at The Ragg where manager Cathal Murray enjoyed a positive start to his first season.
Clarinbridge forward Carrie Dolan was the star, shooting 10 points in Galway's 1-14 to 1-6 win.
Although missing Cáit Devane, Tipperary opened with a Niamh Treacy free before Dolan took over, and with Ailish O’Reilly and Niamh Kilkenny chipping in with scores, Galway led 0-8 to 0-2 at half time
An O’Reilly goal in the 46th minute ensured Galway remained on top. It came from a blistering run by Niamh Hanniffy, whose clever hand-pass provided O’Reilly who flicked to the net.
Although Tipperary responded with an Eilish McDonald goal, Dolan and Niamh McGrath added to the scoresheet for a comfortable opening day win.
