Athlone-based troupe bring double bill to Town Hall Theatre

If you're looking for a night of high-brow hilarity, and oddball originality, then Athlone-based theatre group PREproductions have just the answer with their fantastic comedy double bill at the Town Hall Theatre this August.

Featuring 17th century farce from the pen of legendary French playwright Molière and noughties nuttiness courtesy of award-winning American-born playwright Jesse Weaver, The Nubile Wench and Eight Panels promise the very best of two very different eras in one stunning setting,

A re-working of three Molière shorts, The Nubile Wench (directed by Eoin O'Connell ) is the hilarious story of a young lady's engagement, and her fiancé's struggle to get out of it. Desperate to avoid his impending nuptuals, the would-be singleton employs a friend to pose as a doctor and declare the bride too ill to be wed. But, of course, things don't quite go according to plan.

Jesse Weaver's Eight Panels (directed by John Keane ) tells the tale of a hack cartoonist who teaches a 'free' weekly cartooning class. When he realises one of his students has the makings of a great artist, he offers her his personal attention - but soon reveals his true motives within this 'unnatural relationship'.

The PREproductions double bill comes to the Town Hall Theatre on August 15 and 16. For tickets contact the Town Hall Box Office on 091 - 569777.
