SURREAL, ABSURD, shouty, yet powerful nonsense, that is also not without meaning, will be the order of the day when Tony Law, "the King of post-modern nonsense", according to The Daily Telegraph, returns to Galway.
The multi award-winning Tony Law ("a wonder to behold" - Mail On Sunday; "takes post-modern stand-up to a dangerously funny new level" - The Guardian ) headlines the Comedy KARLnival at the Róisín Dubh on Tuesday January 29.
Without a hint of a joke during his sets, Tony Law has achieved a sort of comedy which aims at making no sense at all - a three-time Chortle Award winner, Amused Moose Best Show winner, and Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee. He has appeared on Celebrity Mastermind, Have I Got News For You, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe, and 8 Out Of 10 Cats.
Support is from ("quirky, zany, and, most importantly, funny" - Capital magazine ), who is also a published writer, illustrator and cartoonist, and Margaret McHugh, a stalwart of the Irish comedy scene.
Doors are at 8pm. The MC is Karl Spain. Tickets are €6 in advance from Róisín Dubh; www.roisindubh.net; or OMG@Zhivago, Shop Street; or €8 at the door.
