Brú Theatre to present new show in 2019

Selvage comes to The Mick Lally Theatre in March

SELVAGE IS the word for the self securing first and last line of knitting. It is also the title of a new theatre show from Galway's Brú Theatre about "the many avenues people trudge to try and calm their ‘gnaw’".

Selvage, written and performed by James Riordan, directed by Lara Campell, and with live original music by Anna Mullarkey, runs in The Mick Lally Theatre (March 7 to 9 ) and the Station House, Clifden (March 14 ). It explores various kinds of help, from religion and charity to the rise of self help gurus, and will be a highly visual event, featuring puppetry and physical theatre.

Brú Theatre's previous work includes The Fisherwives and Cleite. The show was developed as part of the Druid FUEL programme and funded by the Arts Council of Ireland and Galway City Council. This will be Brú’s third production since it formed earlier this year.

Tickets are on sale now from Druid (www.druid.ie, 091 - 568660 ) and the Station House Theatre (www.clifdenstationhouse.com, 095 - 21699 ). See also www.brutheatre.com
