Tis the season to be jolly and nothing gets us more in the festive spirit than decorating our homesteads with lots and lots of Christmas regalia.
Here at the advertiser.ie we give you a few alternative tips on how to make your home a winter wonderland.
1. Less is more
Now everyone knows the first item on the agenda when it comes to Christmas is a tree and when we have secured our big evergreen that would not look out of place in a forest, we then overload the poor thing with ornaments, baubles, lights, and the most tacky of the lot, tinsel. However, this yuletide, why not go for the minimalist style with smaller tree and sparse decorations. The tree will still look amazing while not dominating the room.
2. DIY baubles
You can buy your decorations from the shop and that is fair enough, but if you have the time and the creative skills, you can make your own baubles. It is simple; grab yourself a couple of clear baubles and fill them with whatever you like, from glitter to sweets, the options are endless.
3. Embrace different colours
Ask the question; what are the colours of Christmas?; most would respond green and red, and while they are the colours that are primarily associated with 'the Most Wonderful Time of the Year', there are plenty of others than can get you into the holiday cheer. Try silver, white, or a cool ice blue for a Christmas with a twist.
So there you have it. A few tips to an alternative Christmas.
