BEFORE COMEDIAN Jim Tavare takes to the stage of the Laughter Lounge in the Róisín Dubh on Wednesday April 8, two short films made by local producers Ant Entertainment will be screened.
At 8pm Matched will receive its first public screening. This romantic comedy tells the story of two people's different perspectives of the same date. It features Aaron Lennon Ross and Neassa Walsh. It was shot in Galway last December and was directed by Eamon Quinlan and produced by Emmet O’Malley.
This will be followed by Secret Hiding Place (2008 ), produced and directed by Emmet O’Malley. Set in rural Ireland in the 1980s, it tells of how a young gay man’s secret is revealed over the weekend of a family stations Mass.
The money raised at the film screening will go towards the upcoming production Joe’s Addiction which is due to be shot in Galway in late April. Those interested in supporting the production should contact 085 - 1386508 or email [email protected]
At 9pm the comedy starts. Jim Tavare co-wrote The Jim Tavaré Show with Ricky Gervais and he also starred as Tom the Innkeeper in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Support is from Kevin Hayes and Emmet O’Malley. The MC will be Tiernan Douieb from Islington (does that mean he follows Arsenal? ) who can be expected to makes jokes about Lionel Ritchie.
