FOLLOWING THE release last week of their long awaited debut album, Shape Of Silence, the brilliant Irish "atmosfolk" duo Saint Sister return to the Róisín Dubh on Friday October 19 as part of their current Irish tour.
Saint Sister - Morgan MacIntyre and Gemma Doherty - known for their stunning vocal harmonies and fusion of traditional Irish folk and minimalist electronica, recorded Shape Of Silence with long term co-producer Alex Ryan of Hozier. “We found a really good energy between the three of us," says Morgan. "Over the course of time we have started trusting each other’s instincts a lot more and getting comfortable pushing the boundaries."
The Irish Times said the album, is "a subtle but observant insight into broken Ireland. Although not outwardly political, through their own personal experiences of new and burnt out relationships, fragments of emigration, unemployment, and the feeling of being left behind weave through the songs...their music indirectly captures what it’s like to live through these times".
“That’s something that we really want our music to have - honesty,” Morgan has said. “I view our songs as very personal songs that are just lived experiences and, I guess, the personal is political and that’s maybe why that’s coming across."
