Sylvie Simmons to play Monroe's

Leonard Cohen's biographer is coming to Galway as part of current Irish tour

ONE OF rock music's leading journalists and writers, who deservedly won high praise for her magnificent biography of Leonard Cohen, I'm Your Man, Sylvie Simmons is also a singer, songwriter, and performer.

Galway will get to see this side of her talents when she plays Monroe’s, Dominick Street, on Monday October 29 at 8pm, where she will be joined by Jerome Taheny and Johnny Duhanin. She will perform songs from her album Sylvie, which The Times called "poetic, guileless, reminiscent of a female Leonard Cohen", as well as her forthcoming album, due for release next year.

This current tour will be Sylvie's first trip to Ireland in four years. “Everything about that trip was so memorable and moving,” said Sylvie. “No country loves writers and poets and musicians quite the way Ireland does - the hushed attention to every word and the hospitality and camaraderie when the show is done. Personally I’ve wanted to come back to Ireland since the day I left.”

Tickets are €20, including booking fee from www.monroes.ie and www.ticketweb.ie
