A Franco-Irish gig at the Róisín Dubh

Foy Vance/Duke Special collaborator and a French post-punk trio

A SINGER-songwriter, who has worked with Foy Vance and Duke Special, and a French experimental-rock trio, have joined forces for a tour of Ireland, which includes a gig at the Róisín Dubh.

Jules Maxwell is a singer-songwriter, and composer originally from County Down. He wrote 'First of July' for Foy Vance, and which appeared on Vance's debut album Hope. He joined Dead Can Dance for their 2012/13 Anastasis World Tour and is a regular member of the Duke Special band. His music has also featured in productions at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London. He has also composed for La Fura dels Baus (Barcelona ), Skånes Dansteater (Malmo ), and Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares (Sofia ).

Deleyaman are Aret Madilian, Beatrice Valantin, and Gerard Madilian, whose music mixes post-punk, cold wave, psychedelia, minimalist soundscapes, and Anatolian folk. Although based less than an hour from each other in northern France, it was only recently that mutual friend, Brendan Perry, the singer from Dead Can Dance, introduced them to one another.

Jules Maxwell and Deleyaman play the upstairs bar of the Róisín Dubh on Friday October 5 at 8pm. Admission is €10.
