Dracula, but not quite as you know it...

A spooky play for children from the BaborĂ³ festival

IT IS October, the evenings are getting longer, and it is drawing ever closer to the witching season and Halloween...what better time for the Baboró International Arts Festival for Children to stage a play about Dracula...

French theatre-makers Bob Théâtre will perform Nosferatu on Friday October 19 to Sunday 21 in An Taibhdhearc. Featuring light bulb puppets, a musical score combining cello compositions and fairground music, and dramatic lighting, Nosferatu tells the tale of a young lawyer, Hutter, who travels to the Carpathian mountains in Transylvania, in central Romania to buy a castle from the mysterious Count Orlok. During his travels, Hutter encounters a number of surprises which see the audience enter into an altogether different world, sometimes scary, but also full of humour and sheer inventiveness.

The play is suitable for ages 8+. Performance times are Friday (5pm ), Saturday (2pm and 5pm ), Sunday (12 noon and 3pm ). For more information and tickets see www.baboro.ie or call the Baboró box office at the Town Hall Theatre on 091 - 569777.
