Baboró information day on writing children's picture books

Everything you've ever wanted to know, but were too afraid to ask...

GALWEGIANS WHO have ever entertained ideas of writing or illustrating picture books for children, how to get a publisher, and how to find out what publishers and booksellers looking for when it comes to picture books, should check out an information day at Baboró.

The Baboró International Arts Festival for Children will host the information day in The Mick Lally Theatre on Saturday October 20 from 10.30am to 16.30pm. Speakers include Peter Donnelly, an award winning freelance illustrator whose latest book is The President’s Cat; PJ Lynch, who has been a children’s book illustrator since the 1980s; Tarsila Krüse, whose first illustrated book was shortlisted for a CBI Book of the Year Award; Patricia Forde, a dual-language author and former director of the Galway Arts Festival; Lucinda Jacobs, a poet, illustrator, and author of fiction for young people; Bold Girl author and illustrator Niamh Sharkey; and Sadhbh Devlin, whose first book Bí ag Spraoi Liom was published last year.
