Three chances to see Sean Lock

8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown captain is Galway bound

"I'M JUST organised. I always put a bit of butter on the knife before bed." That's how Sean Lock describes himself. The Times describes him as "gloriously intelligent, deliciously unlikely and hilariously funny".

Lock, stand-up comedian, screenwriter, and team captain on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, is coming to Galway to play three nights at the Vodafone Comedy Carnival in October.

Lock’s stand-up is the product of a hyperactive imagination combining surreal imagery and insightful observations on the human condition, delivered in a deliberately deadpan fashion. A British Comedy Award winner for Best Stand Up, he scripted the cult classic sitcom, 15 Storeys High, and has made numerous appearances on BBC 1’s Live At The Apollo, Have I Got News for You, QI, and recently The Real Man’s Road Trip: Sean and Jon Go West.

In 2000, his show, No Flatley, I Am The Lord Of The Dance was nominated for the prestigious Perrier Comedy Award at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival. That year he also won the British Comedy Award for Best Stand Up (previous winners are Jack Dee, Eddie Izzard, and Jo Brand ). He has also won a Time Out Comedy Award. He has performed at the Edinburgh, Montreal, and Melbourne comedy festivals, and recently toured Belgium, Norway, and Sweden.

Sean Lock plays the Black Box Theatre on Friday October 26 (with Joel Dommett, Paul Currie, and Danny O'Brien ); Saturday 27 (with Milton Jones, Simon Evans, and Phil Nichols ); and Sunday 28 (with Phill Jupitus, Lost Voice Guy, and Joe Rooney ). Doors for all shows are 7pm. For tickets see www.vodafonecomedycarnival.com and the Town Hall Theatre (091 - 569777, www.tht.ie ).
