AARON MONAGHAN, Marie Mullen, Rory Nolan, and Seán McGinley will appear in Druid Theatre's highly anticipated production of William Shakespeare's Richard III in September.
The full cast for Richard III is Aaron Monaghan in the title role, along with Garrett Lombard, Ingrid Craigie, Jane Brennan, Marie Mullen, Marty Rea, Peter Daly, Rory Nolan, Seán McGinley, Siobhán Cullen, Zara Devlin, and Frank Blake. They will be directed by Garry Hynes in a production in association with The Abbey Theatre.
Written in 1593, and featuring on the Bard's most famous lines - "My horse, my horse, my kingdom for a horse" - it has played its part in creating the public image of Richard III as a villainous king, whose defeat by the Tudors marked a triumph of good over evil. Yet, through dark comedy, high drama, and great literature, Shakespeare presents a study of power, the ruthless ambition needed to achieve it, and how power is a corrupting force.
Richard III is at the Town Hall Theatre from September 26 to 29, with previews on September 22, 24, and 25. For tickets contact the Town Hall (091 - 569777, www.tht.ie ). See also www.druid.ie
