Moycullen basketball star Paul Kelly is one of the shining lights for the Ireland U18 men's team this week.
Competing in the FIBA U18 Men’s European Championship in Kosovo, Ireland remain unbeaten with one final group game to be played today (Thursday ).
Kelly was the star in Ireland's 84-69 point win over Malta in the opening group game.
Competing in division C, Kelly led by example, finishing the game with 11 rebounds, 16 points and eight assists, with Cork's David Murray also rounding off a superb display finishing on 19 rebounds, 16 points and six assists.
And on Tuesday Kelly and Murray once again led the charge in their 80-71 point win over Monaco.
David Murray grabbed a whopping 32 points and 15 rebounds, aided by Kelly with a vital 14 points.
Speaking afterwards, Kelly said it was a great feeling.
"This is exactly where we wanted to be, three wins out of three. We have a day off tomorrow, so we'll get a good rest and chill out a bit and then refocus on our last group game on Thursday against Moldova."
Kelly was an instrumental player in St Paul’s Oughterard winning this season's Subway Schools U19 B Boys All Ireland Cup final.
Also on the travelling squad is Moycullen's James Connaire of St Joseph's, The Bish.
