Five up for Bingham Ray New Talent Award

Jordanne Jones, fMartin Beirne, Aislinn Clarke, Brian J Falconer, and Viko Nicki nominated for Galway Film Fleadh award

ACTOR JORDANNE Jones, film makers Martin Beirne, Aislinn Clarke, and Viko Nicki, and producer Brian J Falconer are the nominees for the Galway Film Fleadh’s Bingham Ray New Talent Award.

Martin Beirne directed Around Here, a rural coming-of-age drama in which Michael Murray faces down school bullies, isolation, and a dysfunctional family to find community, love and confidence. See it in the Town Hall Theatre on Friday July 13 at 4pm.

The Devil’s Doorway, directed by Aislinn Clarke, is a found footage horror film set in 1960. Priest’s Thomas Riley and John Thornton are sent by the Vatican to investigate a miraculous event in a mother and baby home, only to uncover something much more horrific. See it in the Town Hall on Wednesday 11 at 10.30pm.

Cellar Door, the debut feature drama from the director Viko Nicki, is about a woman racing from young love to tortured loss and back again, as she searches for her son while in the grip of the Church. It is on Friday 13 at 8pm in the Town Hall.

The Dig, produced by Brian J Falconer, is an Irish thriller about a man convicted of murder, who returns home to find the victim’s father still searching for the body on his land. It will be shown in the Town Hall on Saturday 14 at 10.30pm.

Jordanne Jones stars in Metal Heart, a teen drama about two estranged sisters, home alone for their last summer together before adulthood beckons. It is in the Town Hall on Saturday 14 at 6pm.

The winner will be announced at the Fleadh Closing Night Awards Ceremony at 6:30pm on Sunday 15. Bingham Ray, throughout his career at October films, United Artists, and Sidney Kimmel, attended the fleadh annually, and gave much of his time to mentoring filmmakers at the Galway Film Fair.
