Jamie Harrison plays Róisín Dubh next week

Oranmore singer-songwriter's latest song amasses more than 20,000 listens of Spotify

JAMIE HARRISON, the Galway singer-songwriter whose new song ‘Spent So Long’ has amassed more than 20,000 listens on Spotify, plays the Róisín Dubh next week.

Jamie, who is originally from Oranmore, first came to attention in 2012, appearing on the charity single 'Tiny Dancer'. Subsequently his own single, 'If I Only Knew Your Name' reached the Top 10 in the Irish charts. He has since performed at Electric Picnic and Vicar Street, as well as around Britain. His Youtube videos have won two million views to date.

Jamie cites The Beatles, Elton John, Adele, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Paul Simon, and Stevie Wonder as influences. He has also worked with British Grammy Award winning producer Ken Nelson (Coldplay, SnowPatrol, Paolo Nutini ). Regarding the success of his new song, he said on Facebook:

"I’m so shocked but amazed and delighted at how well ‘Spent So Long’ is doing on Spotify...it’s picked up over 20,000 streams in the short time it’s been out and I now have over 11,000 monthly listeners all over the world, all from one little song. No label, no inside track at Spotify, no knowledge of how to get on Spotify playlists, just the power of people enjoying it causing Spotify to push it to more people."

Jamie Harrison plays the Róísín Dubh on Friday June 29 at 8pm. Tickets are available from www.roisindubh.net; the Ticket Desk at OMG Zhivago, Shop Street; and The Róisín Dubh.
