Hi, I'm Niall and Galway has been my new home since 2015 when I moved here to study English and Psychology at NUIG. After finishing my Leaving Cert at home in Sligo, I spent a year in New Zealand to complete a plastering apprenticeship (which is why I moved back home to study - manual labour in this slender frame? Nope! )
While down in NZ, I started writing comedy routines but had nowhere to air them out to an audience, so I just saved them until I arrived in Galway and on my first Sunday here I went to the legendary Róisín Dubh Open Mic. Since then I've been a member of the Róisín Dubh Comedy team, took on NUIG's Comedy Society as a passion project, and have performed stand-up nationwide. Thanks to the valuable experience gained through Róisín Dubh and NUIG Comedy Soc, I'm now on the team over at Galway International Arts Festival as their Digital Marketing Executive. Having the opportunity to be involved in such Galwegian cultural institutions and work with so many amazing people has allowed me to jump into the middle of what this capital of culture has to offer, and I've loved every minute of it.
