WHAT A year it has been so far for Ultan Conlon. His album, Last Days Of The Night Owl has won critical acclaim; his song 'The Measure' has hardly been off the radio; while more recently, Bryan Ferry has come calling.
The Loughrea singer-songwriter is a deserved success story, albeit one who has put in the hours and hard graft, so it is very satisfying to see his talents being recognised on an increasingly wider scale. Last Days Of The Night Owl was chosen the ‘Album of the Week’ by RTE Radio 1; in April, Ultan played a sold out show at Whelan’s, Dublin; and Bryan Ferry has chosen Ultan as the special guest at his Trinity College Dublin concert on Friday July 27.
Ultan and his band The Night Owls play the Róisín Dubh on Friday July 6 at 8pm. Support is from Vickers Vimy. Tickets are available from www.roisindubh.net; the Ticket Desk at OMG Zhivago, Shop Street; and The Róisín Dubh.
