DOTT, ONE of Galway's most exciting bands are back with a new single, 'Bleached Blonde', the follow-up to their powerful Repeal the Eighth anthem 'Got A Girl', featuring a wonderful new video about a young girl realising her ambitions.
'Bleached Blonde' depicts a girl rummaging around her house trying to find materials that will let her go surfing, in her mind at least, and how eventually, she manages to actually go surfing for real. The song itself is up to Dott's usual high standards, mixing heavy guitar and power chords, with an anthemic chorus, all underpinned by a strong, indie-pop, sensibility.
"'Bleached Blonde' is about trying, failing, and surfing," says Dott singer, guitarist, and songwriter Anna McCarthy. "It's about how much I enjoy surfing despite not really being very good at it. I've been doing a lot of all three since I moved back to Ireland from Toronto last year and became obsessed with the sea. I went on a solo trip to Lahinch in County Clare last summer and rented a cottage where I could surf and write songs for this album. Naturally, themes of the sea started to appear in the songs and 'Bleached Blonde' was written in that cottage."

While the new album, Heart Swell, with a sleeeve designed by Galway artist Cecilia Danell, will be released by Graveface Records USA on Friday June 8. Dott's previous releases include the Button and Beverly Baldwin EPs and the debut album Swoon. The Irish Times has called their music, "extremely catchy stuff, harmony-laden early-’60s-meets-early-’90s indie rock”,while Nialler9 declared it "glowing garage pop...super fun".
