Deirdre does A Line Of O'Kane

Comedian, actor, and Dancing With The Stars contestant is back with new stand-up show

FOOTLOOSE FROM her turn on Dancing With The Stars, and revelling in her return to stand-up, Deirdre O'Kane, who also enjoyed acclaim for her roles in Nobel and Moone Boy, is coming to the Town Hall Theatre.

Deirdre brings her new stand-up show, A Line of O'Kane, on Thursday June 7 at 8pm, where she will examine 12 frantic months in the life of a "tango-tripping, family-minding, telly-making, house-moving, comedy dynamo".

Deirdre retains a "special love for Galway", having lived and worked here during a very exciting period for the arts in the city. As she told me in 2015: "It's a great artistic city. I started my acting career here. I was acting with Druid, and my first two professional years were in the city. That was 1992. I loved that time. There was a whole gang of us, just hanging out, and the buzz was incredible. Macnas were causing a stir, The Stunning were around. I was acting in At The Black Pig's Dyke, and there was a lot of music in the play with Cora Smyth and Brendan Laird. Through them I met Joe and Steve Wall of The Stunning. It was a nice time, it was electric, it was magical, and that's my memory of Galway."

Tickets are available from the Town Hall 9091 - 569777, www.tht.ie ).
