One liners and her from 'Your One Nikita'

Sean Hegarty and and Aoife Dooley for the Comedy KARLnival

SEAN HEGARTY, the Irish king of one-liners, and Aoife Dooley, best known for her books, How To Be Massive and How To Deal With Poxes, will take to the stage of the Róisín Dubh for the next Comedy KARLnival.

Lurgan based Sean Hegarty shot to fame recently when he wowed the judges with his short gags and catchy keyboard jingle on TV3’s Ireland's Got Talent. He has since won Ireland's Funniest Joke and came runner-up in the UK Pun Championships competition. He is also a podcaster, host, radio presenter, rapper, comedy character, actor, and former owner of a bouncy castle company.

Aoife Dooley is a freelance illustrator, author and comedian. She came to attention with 'Your One Nikita' (formerly known as Dublin Hun ) illustrations which chronicle the life of a 22 year-old woman called Nikita and boyfriend Anto. She published her first book, How To Be Massive, in 2016 with Gill books, followed by How to Deal With Poxes On A Daily Basis in 2017. She won U Magazine’s 30 under 30 Award for Best Comedian 2017, and has played the Vodafone Comedy Festival 2017. The Irish Times called her "a contemporary Roddy Doyle", while Roddy Doyle called her "funny, affectionate, and very, very sharp".

The Comedy KARLnival is in the Róisín Dubh on Tuesday May 8. Support is from Andrew Devine, who reached the final of Best New Act at the Bray Comedy Festival 2018. The MC is Karl Spain. Doors are at 8.45pm. Tickets are €5 from OMG@Zhivago, Shop Street; the Roisin Dubh; and www.roisindubh.net; or €7 at the door.
