SSE Renewables and Greencoat Renewables have announced that the 2025 Galway Wind Park Community Fund is now open for applications. The fund supports local groups and individuals in the vicinity of the Galway Wind Park, located in Cloosh Valley, Connemara.

During the 2024 Galway Science & Technology Festival over 2,000 primary and secondary school students across Ireland participated in a STEM education programme on renewable energy and climate. The initiative, which is in its first year, has been made possible through community funding from SSE Renewables and Greencoat Renewables – co-owners of Galway Wind Park.

The annual unmissable Galway Science and Technology Festival Exhibition Day is a calendar highlight for Galway students of all ages. Last Sunday’s event drew over 15,000 to the University of Galway campus for a range of activities including the Medtronic Junior Hospital, a special appearance from Jurassic dinosaurs, the return of the ever-popular Teddy Bear Hospital, up-close-and-personal encounters with exotic animals and The Bug Doctor plus a range of school exhibition stands.

Co-owners of Galway Wind Park SSE Renewables and Greencoat Renewables are now taking applicants for the 2024 Galway Wind Park Scholarship Fund. The fund is available for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

A total of €120,000 from the 2024 Galway Wind Park Community Fund has been distributed to 38 community groups. The distribution was made during a presentation event held on the 24 September in Oughterard, County Galway.
