The Think Before You Flush campaign has partnered with the Galway Atlantaquaria and Sinéad Mc Kiernan of Move & Breathe to deliver a family friendly yoga session followed by a beach clean. A presentation on water quality and how our activities in our bathrooms and kitchens can impact Irelands marine environment will play after the clean. A Westport based councillor has said that he will look for parking charges to be suspended in Murrisk if improvements are not made to the toilet facilities in the car park at Croagh Patrick.

Residents of Cill Rónáin, Inis Mór have now appealed to Galway City Council and to the TDs in Galway West for the installation of new public toilets on the pier. With the tourist season soon to come, this installation will benefit both tourists and residents alike.

Cllr Terry O’Flaherty’s motion proposing that the Galway City Council opens toilets at Ballyloughane on Saturdays and Sundays with immediate effect was carried.

A start date for construction of the new toilets and changing facilities at Ballyloughane beach needs to be made now by the Galway City Council.
