Claremorris Historical Society has invited the community to the launch of the second edition of its annual journal, Clann Mhuiris in Claremorris Library, this evening, Friday November 16.

The elected members of the Claremorris Municipal District welcomed the first moves that are being made to reduce the speed limit on a number of roads in the centre of the town from 50kph to 30kph. The roads selected for the reduction will take in Mount Street, Main Street, James Street, d'Alton Street, The Square, Ballyhaunis Road, Railway Road, and the NCF Road.

Welcoming the opening of the Western Rail Corridor line from Limerick to Galway, Mayo senator John Carty has called for the continuation of the project to Claremorris to proceed as soon as possible.
