Crowning glory - Westmeath scoops hairdressing titles

The Irish Hairdressing Championships, or the Oscars of Irish Hairdressing as it has become known, took place recently at the RDS, Dublin. Over 600 hairdressers from across the country competed to win one of the 12 categories and six prestigious industry awards, which are considered the highest accolades for hairdressers working in Ireland.

The much-coveted top title of Champion of all Irish Champions was retained by Maeve O’Healy-Harte of MOHH, Athlone, Co Westmeath. This is her 10th year to retain the title.

Other awards that went to Westmeath were: Olga Abolina, Profile Hair Design, Mullingar, who won third place in the Trainee Upstyle category, and Claudine Loughrey from Patrick Havlin Hairdressing, Mullingar who won third place in the Trainee Fantasy category.

The Irish Hairdressing Championships 2009 displayed the most impressive show ever with an ever-increasing level of entries and the highest standard of work seen to date.
