There is nothing to beat the taste of fresh and freshly prepared food, and before you even enter The Connaught Bistro, there is a feeling of freshness to the building itself. Its red-brick and steel-blue exterior are bright and very striking, and your expectations are high as you step in.
The west side of Athlone has always had more than its fair share of quality cafes and eateries, and The Connaught Bistro is a prime addition to the Left Bank landscape.
It was officially opened in April of this year by Kevin “Boxer” Moran, whose office is located just around the corner, underlining the “loyal and local” feel of the area.
Proprietor Adrian David has been in the restaurant business for 15 years and works alongside award-winning chef, Kevin Ward. Providing quality service and food has always been a passion for Adrian, who believes that using fresh fruit and vegetables is a key factor in being able to do this.
Keeping customers happy is also a priority, and the fact that they keep coming back for more is proof that this is a very successful philosophy!
You can get a fantastic three-course meal at The Connaught Bistro for €20, and the latest news is that they are now open every Sunday, with specials from €9.
