Catriona Byrne at The Foot Clinic has been providing a chiropody service for the past seven years and continues to treat all aspects of foot and leg pain at McGorisks Pharmacy in Athlone Towncentre and Clonbrusk Primary Care Centre every Thursday afternoon.
Treatment includes toenail conditions like ingrown toenail and fungal toenail cutting; diabetic footcare management; corns, callus, athlete’s foot; verrucae and bunion pain; fallen arches/flat feet, knee/hip pain and gait abnormality; general foot pain – gait analysis; orthotics assessment and prescription; sports injuries – heel spurs, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis.
A biomechanical assessment service is also provided. This assessment analyses walking patterns and in turn orthotic supports may be recommended together with advice on footwear and exercise programmes, which can all greatly assist with general foot, knee and back pain.
Both the clinic and McGorisks Pharmacy stock a range of competitively priced products to assist with foot problems that may occur - fallen arches, ankle pain, hammer toes, calloused feet, painful bunions, and more. Many of these orthotics can also help with ankle, foot, knee, hip, and back pain. Both adults and children are catered for.
Toenail cutting costs €25 while chiropody (up to a half an hour ) costs €35.
Booking is by appointment only. Call Catriona on (087 ) 2982214.
