Bra roll in aid of Irish Cancer Society and Monsignor McCarthy Family Resource Centre

Monsignor McCarthy Family Resource Centre and Athlone Institute of Technology are holding a fundraising event as part of The Irish Times and Pfizer Healthy Town initiative on Thursday, November 5, at 12 noon.

The event is in aid of the Irish Cancer Society and Monsignor McCarthy Family Resource Centre. Members of Battery Height’s community and students from AIT will roll a ball of bras from 13 Battery Heights to AIT. The bra roll is to raise awareness around the issue of breast cancer, which affects both women and men.

The Athlone business community and general public are being asked to wear pink on the day and come out in support of the fundraising event. The bra roll will be led by Mayor Tom Farrell. The route will run from Battery Heights via Connaught Street, Pearse Street, the Town Bridge, Church Street, John Broderick Street, Golden Island Road and on to AIT where the event will finish up with a flash mob dance by the students of the AIT.
