I spent a pleasant hour at Mingala last week being pampered with the ‘Hydro SOS’ Darphin facial, which aimed to restore hydration and radiance to my tired skin.
After filling out a questionnaire detailing my skin type and my main skincare concerns, I was led into the luxurious treatment room where Tonya began the treatment with a relaxing foot ritual, using hot towels to warm my feet and help me settle in for the facial.
The first step in the facial was a brief pressure point massage to the face using a de-stress oil. This was followed by a double cleanse, first with Darphin Refreshing Cleansing Milk, and followed by Purifying Foam Gel to balance the skin and remove all traces of make-up. The Refreshing Toner followed to help balance the pH of my skin.
Feeling utterly cleansed, my skin was then exfoliated with the Microdermabrasion Scrub. Gently applied in circular motions, it removes the top layer of the skin, refining pores and reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
The next step was a lymphatic drainage massage on the face using a delightful smelling, vitamin-filled tangerine oil. While the main aim of the massage is to drain the lymph to the nodes in the face, flushing toxins out of the system, the gentle face massage also offers the more immediate benefit of total relaxation and unwinding.
Tonya then applied a Soothing Eye Mask to the eye area, Hydrating Kiwi Mask to my neck, and Youthful Radiance mask to my face. These help to plump the skin, giving it a dewy glow, as well as increase firmness and elasticity and reduce lines and wrinkles. I was then treated to a scalp massage, after which I lay back for 10 minutes to relax and let the masks do their job.
The masks were then removed with hot mitts, and toner applied. Darphin’s Lifting and Firming Eye Serum along with Arovita Eye and Lip Contour Gel were applied. Skin Mat Serum and Hydraskin Light Moisturiser completed the process to hydrate the skin, leaving it feeling soft and replenished.
I left with a prescription form with details of all the products used in the facial. I found the Darphin range of skincare products gentle on my skin, which immediately felt clean, refreshed, and radiant, a feeling that lasted for days.
