Local Unislim member, Betty Keely from Kinnegad, Co Westmeath, has been selected as the winner of €10,000 in Unislim’s ‘Lose 10lbs in 10 weeks’ challenge, following her success on the Unislim programme which is Ireland’s longest running slimming and health club.
Betty, the mother of three, joined the programme in Mullingar with class leader, Yvonne Keaney, in January of this year, and qualified as an entrant into the competition after she had met the criteria of losing 10lbs in 10 weeks along with around 1,000 other entrants who had achieved the same.
“I joined Unislim as I wanted to switch my current lifestyle for a much healthier one. In my first 10 weeks, I lost 13lbs and was delighted with what I had achieved at that point, even though I still had a little bit to go,” says Betty.
“Losing weight was the main goal for me, and then being able to enter the competition was a bonus, and out of all the deserving men and women who had entered, I just didn’t expect me to be chosen and I’m absolutely thrilled with the prize.”
Betty also joked that the first thing she was planning to buy was the new Unislim cookbook!
Founded in Ireland in 1972 by Agnes McCourt, Unislim is still run as a family business with Agnes and her daughter Fiona Gratzer at the helm.
