Wines Direct understand the importance of choosing the right wine to compliment summer food, yet it can be tricky deciding which wine, there is a fabulous variety available at in Wines Direct, Mullingar and they are on hand with expert advice for selecting superb wines to add to and further enhance your barbecue experience.
“Choosing the right wine to accompany your barbecue will improve your overall enjoyment,” says Trevor Fisher, retail manager with Wine’s Direct. “The trick is to ensure you choose a fruity and refreshing wine for a warm day that will also compliment hot barbecued food. This can take practise but I have a few favourites of my own. With char-grilled chicken I like a dry, unoaked Chardonnay; and a crisp zesty Sauvignon Blanc with grilled fish and seasoned vegetables. With red wine I prefer a style with plenty of body but not overly dry so as to match the traditional red meat grills. I would always have a couple of bottles of rosé on hand for refreshment without food – either before the food is cooked or when relaxing after eating.”
