Medical cards. Anglo Irish. Nama. The wettest July in Irish history. “Enough is enough” say Surf Seeds, the fledgling Irish healthy snack-food firm made famous by RTE’s Dragons’ Den programme, who feel the recent July tallies from Met Eireann are the final straw in an increasingly depressing 12 months for Ireland.
It was time to act, and so with grey clouds overhead on bank holiday Monday this week, Surf Seeds launched their ‘Make Ireland Sunnier’ (at least for August ) campaign by sailing from company headquarters in Dun Laoghaire up the river Liffey to O’Connell Street to hand out their healthy new snack food and “put everyone in a sunnier mood at least”.
“The economic climate at the moment makes it hard enough for people to get by as is,” explains Surf Seed’s founder (and surfer-in-chief ) Tim Rooney, “but we’re damned if our weekends are going to be ruined by the real climate as well”.
Everyone who’s fed up with the weather is encouraged to join in the campaign – see more at www.surfseeds.com or search “Surf Seeds” on Facebook.
