USIT welcomes extension of the intern/grad USA work and travel programme

USIT, the leading provider of the Grad USA programme in Ireland has welcomed the signing of a Statement of Intent between US Ambassador to Ireland, H.E. Claire Cronin and local Minister of State for European Affairs and Defence, Deputy Peter Burke, committing to extend the US-Ireland Intern Work and Travel programme for a further five years.

First established in 2008, the Intern Work and Travel programme allows Irish citizens or permanent residents of Ireland, who are students or recent graduates, to spend up to 12 months living and working in the US. Once in the US students have 90 days to secure a job and it must be related to their field of study. American work experience is often revered as some of the best in the world so graduates who do make the leap and take advantage of this visa find it very easy in securing a job when they come back to Ireland.

Leading provider of the programme, USIT will be hosting a Grad USA launch event in Foleys, Merrion Row, Dublin 2 on 28 Feb from 6 PM which will enable students and recent graduates to meet with USIT Grad USA specialists and past participants of the programme to gauge what destination might suit them best and how to start the application process. Those interested can sign up here.

Those students graduating in 2023 and 2022 graduates can begin their application process now and decide whether they would like to work across the USA with two of USIT’s most popular spots being New York and San Francisco.

“We, at USIT, are delighted that the Intern Work & Travel programme has been extended for another 5 years. It provides Irish graduates with a wonderful opportunity to kick start their professional career in the US. We’re delighted to be the leading providers of this programme and look forward to helping graduates embark on a new adventure for many more years to come,” CEO of USIT, Vicki Cunningham, said.
